Afro Modern:
A Bold Welcome Rooted in Heritage
This space tells a story of legacy, identity, and bold self-expression. My client didn’t just build a home—she crafted an experience, one that honors her African lineage while embracing her love for mid-century modern design. As both her real estate broker and interior designer, I had the privilege of guiding her through this new build journey, ensuring her vision was fully realized.
From the moment guests step inside, they are immersed in her story. The striking 15-foot black entryway stands as a bold declaration—a manifestation of love and roots, a space where culture and modernity harmoniously coexist. Every detail was chosen with intention, reflecting her desire to create a home that is welcoming, soulful, and deeply personal.
Capitol Hill Condo:
A Fusion of Mexican Heritage and Bohemian Elegance
In the heart of Denver's historic Capitol Hill neighborhood, a Mexican-American client found her sanctuary after securing her dream job. Purchasing her first condo, she envisioned a space that embodied rest, heritage, and joy. Drawing inspiration from her cultural roots and a passion for bohemian aesthetics, we curated a design that harmoniously blends cherished heirlooms with eclectic elements.
The centerpiece is her grandparents' vintage sofa, a testament to the belief that the objects we choose to surround ourselves with carry energy. This piece not only anchors the room but also fills the space with love, reminding us of the importance of intentional design in nurturing our hearts, minds, and spirits.
Sanctuary of Serenity:
A Primary Bath Designed for Culture and Calm
This primary bathroom transformation is more than just a renovation—it’s the fulfillment of a promise. When I helped my client purchase her home five years ago, she knew the bathroom would need a refresh, but timing and resources mattered. She vowed to return to the project when the moment felt right, and in early spring 2024, that moment arrived.
Her requests were simple yet intentional: a space that felt serene, a shower bench, no brass or gold, and a cultural element woven into the design. Water itself became our guide—an element of healing, rejuvenation, relaxation, and peace. Every design choice honored these principles, from the soft, natural tones to the subtle cultural influences in art and texture.
The final result? A tranquil retreat that blends function and beauty—a space where she can unwind, reflect, and fully embrace the sanctuary of home.
The Ultimate She Shed:
A Joyful, Black Girl Magic Retreat for Healing & Creativity
After navigating a challenging divorce, my client made a promise to herself: to create a space that was entirely her own, a sanctuary where joy, creativity, and self-discovery could flourish. When she found a home with an attached living space beside the garage, she knew it was meant to be. Though she considered turning it into an Airbnb or long-term rental, she ultimately chose to pour into herself instead—transforming it into the ultimate She Shed.
As a journalist and an avid lover of color, community, and books, she wanted a space that felt like a warm embrace—bold, vibrant, and unapologetically joyful. This She Shed was designed to spark happiness at every turn while proving that colorful interiors can also be calming and comforting. The curated blend of rich textures, radiant hues, and culturally resonant artwork infuses the space with energy, while cozy furnishings invite rest and reflection.
Every element tells a story of resilience and self-love. From the statement-making art to the plush, sunset-hued sofa, this is more than just a beautifully designed retreat—it’s a testament to reclaiming joy, honoring new beginnings, and celebrating the magic of creating a space that truly feels like home.
